Two Weeks’ Commitment
We look to employ camp mentors who will offer a minimum of two weeks of consecutive availability relevant to our camp dates. In reality, we are most interested in mentors who can offer a good part of their summer, with as many available weeks as possible ready to commit.
You will have an initial phone interview with a member of the Oppidan team. We are keen to hear about any relevant experience, your reasons for wanting to work with Oppidan and any particular strengths and talents you might bring to a varied camp such as ours.
Successful candidates will then undergo a subsequent face-to-face interview at our office in Holland Park. These interviews usually take place in small groups and there may be small challenges, tasks and debates to take part in.
Enhanced DBS Check
This is an integral part of working for Oppidan. Please make us aware of any up-to-date DBS check you have, otherwise we can organise this for you. Your DBS check can often take several weeks to be approved; this is something to be aware of in planning your application.
Safeguarding & First Aid Training
All camp mentors working for Oppidan undergo online safeguarding and face-to-face first aid training, in addition to Oppidan’s own training days on site.
Mentors will only be approved once they have taken part in Oppidan’s training programme on site. Mentors will experience camp life first hand and demonstrate their ability to work in a team. After this training, we will be able to confirm or reject your application to work with Oppidan.
